Methods for automated assembly

Background of thesis
project/Summary:

Our shift towards electrified mobility means that new product will be introduced increasingly rapidly putting much strain on assembling our gearboxes in Köping efficiently. Thus, there is a great need for automizing assembly task in our new, reconfigurable, assembly system. To that end, there are huge potentials of introducing both fenceless and traditional robot cells However, several challenges exist in evaluating reconfigurable assembly for increased automation. This project aims to define methods for efficient automation evaluation in reconfigurable assembly systems.

Mechanical Engineering or production engineering
A student that has a big interest automated assembly, new technology and production management

Thesis subject:
Identify, test and verify methods for evaluating automation in assembly.
The assignment includes:
• Literature study and gap analysis
• Collect information of Köping assembly system via e.g., gembas and interviews
• Identify available methods and adapt to local features
• Evaluate best candidates, their opportunities and challenges
• Document and present results
