Once stripped of vegetation and scarred by some of the world’s most severe soil erosion, China’s Loess Plateau has undergone a remarkable ecological transformation. Professor Bojie Fu, one of the scientists who helped make that recovery possible, is the recipient of the 2026 Volvo Environment Prize.

Today at IAA Transportation, Volvo Group, Daimler Truck, Toyota Motor Corporation, Bosch, Air Liquide, TotalEnergies, TEAL Mobility, and MB Energy unveiled their plans to accelerate the rollout of hydrogen-powered vehicles across Europe. For the first time in Europe, the German ecosystem has put in place all the conditions for a scalable deployment of Hydrogen trucks by 2030, driven by the German authorities and European industrial leaders along the value chain. Building on the German deployment model as a practical baseline, scaling these solutions across the continent calls for aligned support from national governments and the European Commission to ensure long-term energy resilience and competitiveness.

Volvo Group announces next step in the Mariestad expansion process with plans for an energy park near the intended battery cell production site. The energy park will be developed along two parallel tracks: a large-scale battery storage facility and a future test bed for innovative energy solutions. Initially, the park is expected to provide approximately 70 MW/260 MWh of battery storage capacity, making it one of the largest energy parks in Sweden. The battery storage facility will support grid stability in the region, while the future test bed will enable the development and testing of new energy solutions. Together, the two tracks will contribute to the transition towards a more sustainable and resilient energy system.

Volvo Group · For the first time in Europe, Germany is bringing together the full ecosystem needed to scale the deployment of hydrogen trucks by 2030, combining supportive policy frameworks, a strong OEM offering and an integrated hydrogen supply chain and infrastructure. · Volvo Group, Daimler Truck, Toyota Motor Corporation, Bosch, Air Liquide, TotalEnergies, TEAL Mobility, MB Energy, and more companies accelerate the commercialization of hydrogen-powered mobility and build the ecosystem needed to scale it along the whole value chain, with vehicles, infrastructure and supply. · The activities include the deployment of hydrogen refueling stations along  key strategic corridors in Europe, in synchronization with the hydrogen-powered truck fleets as well as a competitive hydrogen price. This will enable customers to operate hydrogen-powered vehicles with a competitive total cost of ownership.  · Full details will be unveiled at a CEO-led press event during IAA Transportation in Hanover on 15 September.

The number of votes in AB Volvo has changed due to the conversion of a total of 195 Series A shares to a total of 195 Series B shares. The conversions were implemented with the support of the opportunity for Series A shareholders to request conversion of Series A shares to Series B shares which was entered in the Articles of Association at the 2011 Annual General Meeting.
