Volvo Financial Services (VFS) and Eicher Motors Limited today announced the intent to form a 50-50 joint venture to provide financing, leasing and other financial services for customers of Volvo and Eicher-branded commercial vehicles within the Indian market. Pending regulatory approval, the JV will be created by VFS India issuing new shares to Eicher in exchange for an equity investment of up to Rs 750 crores or approximately 730 MSEK. The exact investment will be determined at the time of closing per the transaction documents. The impact on earnings at the closing of the transaction will not be significant and will not have any cash flow effect on the Volvo Group.

Volvo Group North America has reached a settlement with the California Air Resources Board (CARB). The settlement resolves allegations by CARB regarding the adequacy of the description of certain emission controls on model year 2010-2016 engines installed in Volvo Group trucks sold in California. The Volvo Group’s internal review found no evidence that anyone acted in bad faith, and the settlement is explicitly without admission of liability.

The Assar Gabrielsson Foundation has awarded Ketan Thombare as the winner in the basic science research category and Louise Carstam and Ella Äng Eklund as the winner in the clinical research category. The prize recipients are rewarded with SEK 100,000 each as extra research grants, administered by the Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg.

The number of votes in AB Volvo has changed due to the conversion of a total of 800,000 Series A shares to a total of 800,000 Series B shares. The conversions were implemented with the support of the opportunity for Series A shareholders to request conversion of Series A shares to Series B shares which was entered in the Articles of Association at the 2011 Annual General Meeting.
