Volvo Trucks North America announced that integrated side curtain airbags will now be standard equipment on new Volvo truck models built for the North American market. This marks another industry first for Volvo Trucks. Volvo Trucks introduced the driver front airbag in 1996 with the launch of the VN model and made it standard equipment going forward.

Volvo Trucks North America officially opened orders for the all-new Volvo VNR, a Class 8 truck designed for regional and urban haul. The new VNR delivers greater fuel efficiency, safety and connectivity. The truck is now available for order at Volvo Trucks dealerships across the U.S. and Canada, with production on track to begin in February 2026 at the New River Valley Plant in Virginia.

Volvo Trucks North America is now offering Load Finder, a service that helps carriers streamline logistics operations and turn empty miles into revenue. Unlike other load boards that require costly subscriptions, Load Finder is available at no cost to Volvo customers and is especially valuable for new carriers entering the freight market or established fleets looking to help maximize paid miles and support more efficient freight movement.

Volvo Trucks has reached a major milestone: more than one million trucks worldwide are now digitally connected, helping fleets and drivers work smarter and safer on the road. In North America alone, more than 218,000 connected trucks are deployed in customer operations, representing one in five of all Volvo trucks on the continent.

Volvo Trucks North America customer Averitt Express, one of the nation’s leading freight transportation and supply chain management providers, has placed an order for 264 new Volvo VNL 860s. The deal marks one of the largest single orders for the new flagship sleeper model in North America to date.

ALLENTOWN, PA (August 11, 2025) – Mack Defense has been awarded a new five-year contract to continue production of the U.S. Army’s M917A3 Heavy Dump Truck (HDT) for up to 450 trucks with a total contract value up to $221.8 million. This new agreement follows the successful fulfillment of the initial contract awarded in 2018 and comes after the company recently celebrated the production of its 500th M917A3 HDT in March 2025.
