Mechanic 3 Prototype Workshop

Features, Verification & Validation is a global organization using deep customer knowledge to break down customer features into technical requirements. We drive validation plans to reach the requested feature level and secure end customer satisfaction. We also manage the verification plans thanks to world class physical and virtual tests on the complete vehicle such as durability testing in rigs, fuel economy testing, reliability testing with customers and a variety of simulations and tests with trucks on proving grounds and open roads. Our skilled and engaged teams are located in Gothenburg, Lyon, Greensboro, Curitiba, Bangalore and Ageo.

Job Summary
Work within a team of technicians and test engineers to prepare, develop, instrument, & perform a variety of complete vehicle tests. This may include: prototype development, mechanical labor, vehicle retrofits, DOT inspections and functional verification of vehicles being prepared for test.

  • Prepare trucks and/or rigs for testing. This includes parts retrofit and/or instrumentation
  • Liaison with the Product Build Group and design engineers to mitigate parts issues
  • Perform DOT, PDI and safety inspections
  • De-instrument and return trucks to stock condition after testing
  • Participate in OJT or formal training to further and enhance skills
  • Strive for continuous improvement
  • Assist in keeping the shop clean and organized
  • Maintain CDL certification
  • Occasional travel to support offsite testing
Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills
  • Min. High School Diploma
  • Minimum 8 years of truck service or truck industry experience
  • Complete understanding of heavy duty trucks/trailer systems and functions
  • Strong understanding of HVAC Systems
  • Experience with schematics and electrical troubleshooting
  • Experience with service tools, diagnostic equipment
  • Proficient spoken and written English
  • Working knowledge of safety practices in a shop environment
