Powertrain Engineering is a unique selling point for the Volvo Group brands (Volvo, Renault, Mack, UD…), aiming to deliver even more efficient powertrains. Driveline department has the task to develop the final transmission up to the wheels, and is therefore deeply involved in conventional and future trends (hybrids, electrifications…). The design engineering team in front line when it comes to develop new transport solutions
As a design engineer you will be directly involved in the development of our products, from parts to system design, considering manufacturability, assembly, maintainability up to their end of life and recyclability.
From your CAD design, you will be in charge of doing static finite element simulations to optimize your parts/systems. Once optimized you will make 2D drawings, including stack-up analyses to define tolerances.
Finally you will be in charge of releasing CAD and drawings to put them in production!
WHO ARE YOU?
As part of the design engineering team, you contribute to the technology development by designing smart solutions for the next generation of drivelines. More in details, this means that you will propose system architectures, integrate sized components from the simulation team and develop housings around them
You will work in close collaboration with simulation engineers and component/system responsible.
As part of a design network, you share with peers your progress and targets to maximize the collective output.
- Fluent in CREO Parametrics
- Experienced in tolerances and stack-up analysis (CE-tol or equivalent)
- Experienced in automotive technology development
- Knowledge on bearing arrangements
- Knowledge of power electronics (Energy Storage, Power convertor, Electrical Machine…) is a merit
- BTEC Higher National Diploma or equivalent
- At least 4 years experience in design engineering
- Fluent in English (both written and spoken)
