CAE Engineer - Vehicle simulation and model development

You are interested in Product Development in general and passionate in Simulation and Analysis. You will be part of an experienced and highly performing simulation & analysis team working within many different CAE areas. Your role and key responsibility is to drive and develop the area of Vehicle Simulation. You develop new methods and processes, build engine and vehicle models, perform simulations, analyse and communicate results.
Vehicle simulation is a crucial part within the fast growing area of Electromobility. Simulations are needed in order to understand and optimize the performance and efficiency of the hybrid or full electric drive system for both marine and industrial application. Vehicle simulations are used for powertrain dimensioning, vehicle energy optimization, battery life prediction, charging strategies, energy management etc.
The main analysis tool is GSP (Global Simulation Platform) which is an internal developed Volvo software based on Matlab and Simulink.

You have excellent skills in analysis but also basic knowledge in industrial machinery, energy consumers and marine/industrial drivelines. The academic degree needed is M.Sc. or Ph.D. within the field of simulation and analysis. Great skills in Matlab and Simulink is mandatory. Earlier experience in vehicle modelling and simulation in GSP or similar is merited. Battery simulation knowledge is also of interest but not necessary. Your CV should contain listed qualifications in academic degrees and work experience. Fluent communications in English.
The CAE department at Volvo Penta consists of 15 skilled engineers working within all CAE areas (Vehicle simulations, Battery simulations, 1-D engine performance, FEA, CFD, MBD, TVC, Acoustics and 3-D combustion). The advantage sitting together in one CAE team is obvious with respect to communication, collaboration and CAE synergies. We continuously develop and improve our methods and way of working. We use modern commercial CAE software’s and powerful hardware to meet the high set demands.
