In this role, you have the opportunity to

Conduct the verification of our internally developed embedded software; but could also support the design, development, and integration of our software for our compaction and paving products. You will work to secure the quality of our software deliveries in the Advanced Engineering, New Product Development, and Product Maintenance phases of projects.
Your primary responsibilities will include
  • Produce software test cases by analyzing functional requirements and external regulations
  • Execute system level test cases (test bench, Hardware-In-Loop Rig), and machine level test cases (production intent prototype machines)
  • Perform system level requirements breakdown according to System Engineering principles
  • Troubleshoot system level machine issues
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis of reported issues
  • Written reporting and presentations on completed work
  • Collaboration with and support of software developers

This position will be based at our campus in Shippensburg, PA, the primary location for Volvo Construction Equipment in the United States.

We believe the successful candidate for this role will have
  • A Bachelor of Science in Engineering
  • 3 - 5 years’ experience with real-time embedded software verification in the off-road heavy equipment, on-road heavy equipment, automotive, or similar industry
  • 3+ years’ experience with version control, configuration management, vehicular electrical & electronics system design
  • Experience with communication and diagnostic protocols such as CAN, J1939, J1587, UDS 14229, LIN
  • Experience working within the Systems Engineering (V-Model) framework for embedded systems
  • Knowledge in root cause analysis and problem solving methodologies
  • The ability to work in cross-functional team environments
  • Ability to provide technical leadership, training and guiding team members
  • Effective and efficient communication skills; ability to share knowledge, information, and resources at all levels in the organization (including internationally)
  • Adaptability and creativity
Additionally, we highly desire a candidate with experience with
  • Tools for scripting, graphical system modeling, and state control logic programming.
  • Electronically controlled hydraulic systems
  • Diesel internal combustion engines and e-mobility systems
  • Agile product development methodologies
  • Project management
