The FH16 780 offers a class leading 3800Nm of torque which not only provides astonishing performance under heavy load, it also offers the opportunity operate with taller final drive ratios in the pursuit of fuel efficiency.

Joining the award winning FH16 on the Volvo Group Australia stand is the FH Aero I-Save, a truck geared for efficiency and productivity. Along with the Volvo FMX Electric, a reminder that for every ICE powered Volvo model there’s an electric option available.

All vehicles on display regardless of driveline are equipped with the latest iterations of Volvo Truck’s active and passive safety systems. From the recently launched CMS (Camera Monitoring System) to Volvo Dynamic Steering, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Vulnerable Road User Detection, Corner Camera, Down Hill Cruise Control and Pilot Assist.

When combined with Volvo Dynamic Steering, Pilot Assist provides active lane keeping while cruise control in engaged. To make the most of the energy or fuel being used, I-See, Volvo’s map reading cruise control will optimise gear selection for maximum sufficiency.

“780hp and 3,800Nm are impressive numbers, and we can talk about these numbers as much as we like, but it’s that ‘seat-of-the-pants’ feeling which tells the driver whether the torque is doing the job out on the road," says Tim Giles, Chair of the ToYA Jury.

"With this truck it definitely has to be a ‘seat-of-the-pants’ feeling, because like most modern European prime movers, the sounds inside the cab, the rumble from under the engine cover is barely discernible.

“These numbers definitely become real when the driver puts the truck to work, this level of power and torque make tough freight tasks a relative breeze and the driver can always feel confident the driveline can handle our high masses in difficult conditions.

“The extra power and torque is coupled with the excellent driver experience which Volvo have developed over the years. There’s a quiet effortlessness which the driver feels as they get into a climb at those high masses, and the way the driveline copes in an unfussy way with varying gradients is impressive.”

“It’s an incredibly exciting time to be a part of Volvo Trucks”, says Tom Chapman, Vice President Volvo Trucks Australia. “Over the last 18 months or so our range of vehicles has more than doubled giving our customers a wide range of options that can be tailored to deliver for their business.”

“Both the FH16 and The FH Aero displayed on our stand at the Brisbane Truck Show are capable of delivering  exceptional fuel efficiency, a vital part of our zero emissions ambitions.”

“We are truly grateful to the International Truck of The Year judges for their recognition of our what this truck has to offer Australian trucking operators,” Chapman continues.

“I believe that the current range of trucks is our best yet in terms of safety, efficiency and productivity and it’s great to see that rewarded.”

“We really are working together towards zero.”
