Unveiled on behalf of the ACT Emergency Services Agency, this Volvo FM crew cab has been specially designed and equipped, front to back, with the needs of the firefighter at top of mind.
Safer emergency vehicles mean a safer environment for all road users.
Volvo Trucks collected feedback from the field to create the safest, most comfortable and innovative vehicle for those tasked with protecting the community during times of crisis.
A key focus during the development of the Crew Cab was to create a working environment that makes a firefighter’s job easier while also supporting the health and well-being of their teams in the challenging conditions they face.
This has resulted in a more human centric approach to emergency vehicle design, with new standards in performance, ergonomics and driver safety.
The vehicle unveiled at the show is equipped with a Euro 6 emissions compliant 11L Volvo engine, and fully automatic transmission with leading safety features, making this a fit-for-purpose solution for the emergency services sector.
Volvo Group Australia President & CEO Martin Merrick was on-hand to unveil the vehicle. “We’re aware it’s been a very tough few years for this sector and we continue to see the devastating effects of climate change.”
“This is why Volvo Group have signed up to the Paris Agreement. We are committed to the science-based targets initiative and our targets to achieve net zero emissions by 2040 have been ratified by the SBTI.”
“This truck represents Volvo’s commitment to the emergency services, and to a more sustainable future. It’s been designed to meet the needs of emergency services. The result is a safe, innovative, and fit for purpose truck that we are very proud to share with you,” he continued.
Volvo Group Australia also reaffirmed the intention to build these crew cabs in Australia. This year, Volvo’s Wacol, Brisbane plant celebrates 50 years of local manufacturing.
The Group employs over 700 staff, including over 50 dedicated engineers, who design and build trucks specifically for the Australian conditions.
“We sincerely thank the ACT ESA for their trust and support in Volvo Group, as we look forward to a long and fruitful partnership on our shared journey towards a more sustainable future.”
