1999 Lunched FM7 290 8x4 Tipper concept in India
2001 Introduction of Volvo Bus chassis assembly [later moved to separate assembly plant]
2002 Introduction of FM9 300 8x4 Tipper; Volvo crossed the 1000 tipper mark in India
2004 First Volvo trucks export to South Korea
2006 Introduction of the all new FM 8x4 Tipper with a powerful 13 litre engine delivering 400 HP & 2000 NM torque, setting a new benchmark in high performance.
2009 Volvo tippers cross the 5000 mark, continuing their leadership in the Indian mining industry.
2011 Assembly & Introduction of the FMX 440 8x4 Tipper in India
2012 Launch of the new Volvo FM 480 10x4 dump truck, the biggest off-road truck from Volvo. Site renamed as Volvo Group Trucks.
2015 Inauguration of the new assembly plant to assemble Eicher Pro 8000 trucks [later moved to Eicher plant in Pithampur]. Volvo Trucks crossed the landmark 10,000 mark in India
2017 Start of Volvo Trucks axle assembly in India. Assembly agreement contract with Volvo Cars & roll out of 1st locally assembled Volvo Car.
2018 Hosakote site celebrates 20 years in operation.
The Volvo Group Trucks assembly plant at Hosakote, Bangalore started its operations in the year 1998, becoming the first European Commercial Vehicle manufacturer in India.The plant is spread across over 120 acres of land with beautiful landscape and meets ISO 9001/14001 standards with it’s well established Quality and Environmental Management Systems in place since the early days.
This state-of-art facility Group Trucks Plant is a Completely Knocked Down ( CKD ) factory having main assembly line, cab welding & trimming, superstructure mounting, state-of-the-art paint shop and a complete test track for testing and validation of the newly designed trucks.
