The turnkey solution is the first of its kind to be delivered by Volvo Penta for this type of vessel in Ukraine.
“OB 47”, as the 47-meter long cruiser has been provisionally named, was designed by ProLine, an independent naval construction agency in Nikolaev, Ukraine. Onboard facilities include suites, exclusive cabins, lounges and bars, and a sauna accessible from the quarterdeck.
Despite having a displacement exceeding 400 tons, the cruiser is shallow-draught and capable of trafficking the estuaries and other shallow waters in Northern Russia. The reinforced hull also means that the vessel can sail in the Arctic Ocean and other waters where there is drift ice.
Total solution
The yacht is driven by two turbo-charged 776 kW Volvo Penta 34-liter diesel engines – D34A MT. Volvo Penta is also supplying the propeller drive shafts. An important advantage of using a single supplier for the entire drive system is that engines and propellers are integrated in an optimal manner. This maximizes performance and product life and simplifies installation and maintenance.
The generators on board the cruiser are driven by two, 86 kW Volvo Penta D5A T engines. These engines are extremely fuel efficient due to well-controlled fuel injection.
“OB 47” is designed to meet the standards and regulations of several classification societies. The design and construction process is being monitored from start to finish by the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping.
