Volvo Trucks North America offers air disc brakes for even higher level of safety

The industry-leading safety technology of Volvo now includes the enhanced braking performance of Bendix heavy-duty air disc brakes on Volvo VN and VT model trucks. The optional disc brakes are available for order now.
Disc brakes can improve braking capacity and performance in demanding conditions, contributing to safer highway travel.  The Bendix ADB22X air disc brake delivers greatly reduced brake fade on long downhills, improved brake component life and reduced maintenance, while being less sensitive to adjustment than traditional S-cam drum brakes.  Volvo is offering the disc brakes on front and rear axles on Volvo VNs and VTs with front axle ratings from 12,000 to 13,200 pounds and 40,000-pound rear axle ratings.  The disc brakes can also be ordered for front axle only.

The addition of disc brakes – combined with the advanced vehicle control and rollover protection provided by Volvo Enhanced Stability Technology (VEST) – give drivers an even greater margin of safety in Volvo trucks.

Volvo Trucks North America’s operations and products are guided by the company’s three core values:  Safety, Quality and Environmental Care.  The Volvo VT, VN and VHD trucks are assembled in the United States at the New River Valley Plant in Dublin, Virginia, while Volvo engines for North America are assembled in Hagerstown, Maryland.  Both plants are certified to ISO14001 environmental and ISO9001 quality standards.  Volvo also sponsors America’s Road Team, a national highway safety outreach program.
