Volvo Construction Equipment North America announces online video competition in U.S. and Canada

The Working Iron Challenge by Volvo Construction Equipment provides a competitive, online opportunity for publishing videos of working hard, working smart and working safe on jobsites across the US and Canada. The challenge is intended to portray the reality of construction and other demanding fields as individual testaments that exemplify the term “Working Iron.”

Video clips submitted to the Working Iron Challenge website can qualify for public voting with prizes awarded to the best videos. All who submit a video have an opportunity for a monthly participant prize. Entries must express any of the elements that define working hard by overcoming obstacles, working efficiently by lowering fuel consumption and working safely. The grand prize-winning video will be announced at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2011.

“Every day, men and women in hard-working industries throughout the U.S. and Canada are presented with obstacles on the job. Those might include demanding jobsites where high production is an absolute must, a dangerous environment where unsafe practices must be avoided or even finding ways to slash fuel costs and work smarter in general,” said Paul Parker, senior marketing and programs specialist for Volvo Construction Equipment North America. “Show us how you overcome those obstacles, show us your determination and we can show the world. This is just as much about the iron inside of people as it is the iron — the heavy equipment — we sell.”

An entry in the Working Iron Challenge sponsored by Volvo Construction Equipment is made by registering and submitting a video clip that exemplifies the definition of Working Iron. The challenge is open to residents of the U.S. and Canada. Entrants have until February 24, 2011, to register and submit video entries in the challenge through the company’s website at

The grand-prize winner will receive a trip for two to a premier sports event of their choice: the summer stock car race at Daytona, a professional hockey finals game, the college football national championship game, or the men’s college basketball national championship game, courtesy of Volvo Construction Equipment North America. The challenge champion will be announced in the Volvo Construction Equipment booth N1641 during CONEXPO.

Qualifying video entries will be posted to the website for online viewing with three separate periods for public voting to determine three grand-prize finalists. A monthly finalist prize of an HD LCD TV will be awarded. A random drawing will also be held during each of the three months for a $50 Visa®by a judging panel of industry professionals at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2011. gift card. The three selected grand-prize finalist videos will move into a final bracket position with voting and determination of the grand-prize winner
