Last year was a success for the V8-380 – here come the siblings, the new V8-430 and V8-350!

Lighter, cleaner, faster, stronger and with a world-class weight/effect ratio. That’s how we described the V8-380 – launched a year ago. Now, the Volvo Penta V8 engine range grows with two new engines, both part of Volvo Penta’s new generation of state-of-the-art, 6-litre, V8 gasoline marine engines. And just like their predecessor, the V8-430 and V8-350 BSO are high-performance engines, loaded with new technology. The V8-430 meets the US EPA requirements by a broad margin and the V8-350 BSO has been certified for Europe (IMCI) and use on Lake Constance (Bodensee).
The new generation of V8 engines from Volvo Penta is the result of several years of intense development work and means a real technological leap forward in the field of gasoline engines for marine use.

The new, powerful 430 and 350 hp engine packages are compact and light: they weigh around 100 kilos less than any other engine in the corresponding classes on the market, resulting in very competitive weight/effect ratios. At the same time, the new engines are heavy-duty, fuel- and oil-efficient and, thanks to the new catalytic converter, emission levels have been substantially lowered. The new V8-430 meets the US EPA requirements – by a broad margin – and the V8-350 BSO engines meet the requirements for Lake Constance (Bodensee).

The engines have also been equipped with VVT (Variable Valve Timing) technology, which optimises torque at low RPMs while maximising the effect outlet at high RPMs, resulting in faster acceleration, increased top speed and smoother, better response in the mid-range.

The V8-430 is based on the same engine model as the V8-380, but includes a number of modifications inside the engine which enables increased power output. The hardware design of the V8-350 BSO is identical with that of the V8-380.

Easy installation and beautiful design
Both the new engines have protected exhaust systems made of aluminium to lower the weight, and their exhaust flow has been optimised to achieve the highest possible levels of performance. The engines and the exhaust systems are freshwater cooled, as standard.

The V8-430 and V8-350 BSO are equipped with catalytic converters as standard. On top of all these performance improvements and updates, the engines are – like all Volvo Penta gasoline engines – fully integrated with Volvo Penta’s EVC electronic platform.

Both engines are also easy to install and follow the latest design principles specially developed for the Volvo Penta gasoline engine range.
