Volvo Penta Introduces Preventive Maintenance Plan for Gasoline Sterndrive Engines

Volvo Penta today announced at the Miami International Boat Show a preventive maintenance plan for its new gasoline sterndrive power systems.

(Miami) February 14, 2013 – Volvo Penta today announced at the Miami International Boat Show a preventive maintenance plan for its new gasoline sterndrive power systems.

The new plan is offered through Volvo Penta dealers and covers all scheduled maintenance required under Volvo Penta’s 2+3 Factory Protection Plan for new engines starting with the 2013 model year.

“By putting their trust in the hands of our servicing dealers, boat owners will get peace of mind knowing that maintenance and repairs are done by factory-trained technicians, using genuine Volvo Penta parts and lubricants,” said Ron Huibers, president of Volvo Penta Region Americas. “This program will increase the life of the engine, optimize fuel economy, reduce emissions, decrease expensive repairs, minimize downtime and - most importantly - enable boaters to spend their time - worry-free - enjoying life on the water.”

Maintenance checks covered by the plan include engine and sterndrive oil and filter changes, fuel filter changes, raw water pump impeller changes, spark plug changes, anode replacement, bellow changes, greasing propeller splines and engine software updates to keep up with all improvements.

In addition to changing filters, oil and parts according to the engine’s service schedule, the Volvo Penta dealer will perform a comprehensive check-up to discover any minor issues before they become big problems.

“This is just one of the new programs we are introducing to further improve customer satisfaction and confidence in our marine engines and drive systems,” said Huibers.
