After taking home the IBEX Innovation Award in September, Volvo Penta is celebrating again, having scooped a DAME Design Award for the top electronic and software-related concept at the Marine Equipment Trade Show (METS) in Amsterdam. The prestigious DAME Design Awards go to the best and most trendsetting new marine equipment and accessories in the industry.
More than 100 products were entered into the seven categories of competition and were assessed for overall design quality, functionality, build quality and use of materials, as well as originality, ergonomics and price/quality ratio. The DAME Design jury liked ‘the clean design, intuitive interface and integrated approach’ of Volvo Penta’s Glass Cockpit system, giving it top honors in the ‘Marine Electronics and Marine-related Software’ category.
Jointly delivered with Garmin, the fully integrated Glass Cockpit control and monitoring system displays navigation, engine data, warnings, alarms and other information on high-tech, multi-function flat-screen displays at the helm station. Part of Volvo Penta’s ‘easy boating’ concept, the Glass Cockpit makes boat operation more like driving a car, bringing engine control and monitoring into a dashboard that features a common ergonomic user interface.

The Volvo Penta Glass Cockpit is on display at METS in Hall 9, Stand 208. The exhibition runs through November 21 at the Amsterdam RAI Convention Center.
