Volvo Buses India today announced the delivery of 10 nos. BSIV compliant 12-metre 9400 range coaches to the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC).

These buses were inducted in the presence of Honourable Chief Minister of Gujarat, Vijay Rupani. Speaking on the occasion, Vijay Nehra, MD, GSRTC  stated, ‘Close on the heels of the recent supreme court judgement mandating compulsory implementation of BSIV norms, GSRTC has become the first STU to induct BSIV compliant Volvo coaches in India.’

‘We are truly proud to take forward our strong association with the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation with the delivery of these new BSIV compliant coaches that optimise performance, comfort and safety,’ says VRV Srirprasad, Managing Director, Volvo Buses, South Asia.

Designed for business
Volvo Buses has been proactive in its commitment towards meeting BSIV norms. The locally manufactured BSIV compliant Volvo D8C engine is testimony to this fact. The powerhouse manufactured delivers peak power of 330HP to ensure a high degree of performance and fuel-efficiency.

The driveline and powertrain in Volvo 9400 coaches are designed to last for the lifecycle of the bus, which is typically for 10 lakh kilometres. With long service intervals, these key aggregates can contribute significantly to lowering of running costs. Moreover, the NVH levels are significantly reduced, which lead to better travel comfort for passengers and lowers driver fatigue, which is essential from a safety standpoint.

Safety, one of the core values at Volvo Buses, is always at the forefront of all products. With segment-first active safety features like ABS, Electronic Braking System (EBS), Disc Brakes, Hillstart aid, among others the bar is raised further.

Add to this, Bus Body Code features like emergency exit door; breakable emergency exit windows with T-punch glass breakers; emergency service door opening switches; fire suppression system in engine hatch & luggage areas; smoke detection system in the saloon and luggage areas; and fire extinguishers, personal safety is enhanced in all Volvo coaches.

The 9400 range also includes 13.7 and 14.5 metre coaches that feature BSIV compliant 11-litre engines mated with high-performance drivetrain aggregates.
