Volvo Group North America Hosts Touch-A-Truck Event at its Greensboro Campus

Volvo Group North America hosted today the Junior League of Greensboro’s 11th annual Touch-A-Truck event at its Greensboro campus. The family-friendly festival provided an interactive, hands-on opportunity for children to experience and learn about the many types of vehicles that help protect, build and sustain our community. Pictured (left) between a Volvo VNL 760 and Mack Anthem are Greg Karpinski and his daughter and (right) Sarah Hopkins and her son enjoy the construction equipment activity area. Volvo Group North America supports the mission of the Junior League of Greensboro, promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. The event featured vehicles from the Greensboro Fire Department, Greensboro Police Department, Greensboro Transit Authority and many local businesses serving the community. Representing Volvo Group North America were Mack Anthem® 70-inch sleeper and Mack Anthem day cab models, along with Volvo VNL 760 sleeper trucks and a custom VNL 780 dubbed “Boomer." Created by engineers in Greensboro, Boomer’s dual 150-gallon diesel fuel tanks were converted to subwoofer enclosures and a large speaker array was mounted behind the sleeper cab. A functional fuel tank was added behind the cab so Boomer can be driven from one location to another. Boomer pumped music throughout the event. Volvo Group North America hosted the Touch-A-Truck event to help inspire children and teach about the integral role trucks and other vehicles play in the Piedmont Triad.
