Boost their confidence

For more than 30 years, the Volvo group in France has been working to improve the professional prospects of people with disabilities.

The group just signed a partnership agreement with the nonprofit organization ARPEJEH, which helps young differently-abled students complete their academic projects. The goal of the partnership is to promote the inclusion of people with disabilities into the professional world. Since these young people often have trouble finishing their studies, the company aims to boost their confidence so they can complete their academic program and obtain a degree.

Work study program

A specific example of this partnership is Bakay Fofana’s yearlong work-study program in the HR department at Renault Trucks. The goal is to help this student obtain a professional HR degree. Preparatory work was done ahead of time to define the student’s mission and determine how to best take his scope of abilities into account.

“I really appreciate Bakay, because he is very motivated, engaged, and anticipates requests,” Valérie Reynaud, Director of Talent, Skills, and HR projects, says and Franck Gillet, HRBP, add.

“Bakay is always available and willingly offers his help to those he works with.” For his part, the student appreciated his first foray into the workplace: “The employees are nice. I quickly got into the swing of things, and started working on creating job offers and descriptions of job changes.”
