The breadth of the product lineup on display spotlights Mack’s commitment to the refuse industry, as well as the unique needs of its customers. The models on display are configured for a variety of refuse applications, with the Mack LR Electric being a zero-emissions battery-electric vehicle (BEV) and the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) TerraPro model helping reduce tailpipe Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions.
The LR Electric features four lithium-ion Nickel Manganese Cobalt Oxide (NMC) batteries and offers a standard 376 kWh total battery capacity for 42 percent more energy than the earlier generation battery and increased range between vehicle charges. Twin electric motors produce 448 continuous horsepower and 4,051 lb.-ft. of peak torque output from zero RPM. The batteries are charged through a 150 kW, SAE J1772-compliant charging system, and not only power the vehicle, but also all onboard accessories through 12V, 24V and 600V circuits. The two-stage regenerative braking system helps recapture energy from the hundreds of stops the vehicle makes each day with an increasing load.
The diesel-powered Mack LR day cab is equipped with the Mack MP®7-325C, featuring 325 horsepower and 1,260 ft.-lb. of torque. The Mack LR is equipped with a Heil front loader. The TerraPro day cab, also equipped with a Heil front loader, is powered by the Cummins L9N-G with 320 horsepower and 1,000 ft.-lb. of torque. The Mack MD6 features a Cummins ISB6.7 diesel engine and an Allison 2500 RDS six-speed transmission.
