Fleet Manager

Role Objective
Are you up for the challenge of bringing the Volvo Trucks New River Valley plant to the next generation of Powered Industrial Equipment!  As the Fleet Manager, you will have the responsibility for providing the plant with all its powered equipment needs. With 250+ unique pieces of equipment, you will be able to make a large impact on the performance of the operation. With a focus on keeping our employees safe, delivering lean and efficient process while reducing our carbon footprint, and keeping cost down.

This is a key role at the plant impacting the whole business, which will provide you daily opportunities to interact with individuals at all levels of the organization. You will keep abreast of the latest technology changes to secure the most efficient and safe processes. You will coordinate with and support the in-house maintenance department as it relates to all fleet equipment.

Our organization
The New River Valley (NRV)-Plant located in Southwest Virginia is the largest plant in the Volvo Group, comprising of 2 million square feet under roof, on 566 acres with 3000+ employees working on site. This plant is the sole factory producing the Volvo Truck brand in North America and serves as the painted part supplier for our sister Mack truck plant in Pennsylvania. We work actively within the Volvo Global Network to benchmark and share best practices. Major investments are being allocated to this site for plant upgrades to be able to support increasing demand for the product and the new technologies in product and process that are leading the industry. This operation has a very bright future!

Who are you?
You hold a bachelor’s degree in business or engineering, with at least 5 years of experience operating / managing fleet operations. You are comfortable presenting to all levels of an organization. You are good at communicating and like to build relationships with different types of people and leverage the benefits of teamwork. You bring great data management, capable of creating financial business cases and budget management. You have excellent computer proficiency at a detailed level (MS Office – Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and you are capable of manipulating data to tell a story. You enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, with several tasks in progress at the same time requiring quick action, while being able to plan and manage your time towards mid- and longer-term projects. You are mechanically inclined and are knowledgeable about Powered Industrial Equipment.
