Thesis - Implementation of modern training methods

INTRODUCTION
Would you like to make a difference for all Volvo CE dealer staff when it comes to training? How about becoming a part of our team and transforming current training methods/offer into the learning landscape of the future!

Volvo Construction Equipment, Competence Development organization is producing learning solutions enabling 15 000 worldwide sales and aftermarket staff to be successful in their daily work.
We are now taking the next step in our development to deliver a modern learning offer. We want to secure a sustainable competitive advantage for our distribution network with our learners in focus by delivering engaging learning experiences using fit for purpose technologies and methods, and to be considered among the best. ​
The thesis work will be supported by the Learning Development department (a team of 8 globally based colleagues) working with system and method development around our learning offer. Your base for this work will be our Volvo CE training Center in Eskilstuna, Sweden. For the program participants we can offer you to write a Master or Bachelor thesis and grow with us.
DESCRIPTION OF THESIS WORK AND DELIVERABLES
With a quickly developing digitalization, we see both a demand and a possibility to replace some of the traditional classroom training with a more digitalized training offer.
In this thesis, you will be able to explore modern Learning and Development theories and find a practical application for them in our learning environment.
We would like you to work with questions like, but not limited to:
  • How to restructure existing instructor-led trainings into spaced micro learnings / combined methods in order to reduce time spent in class, application of flipped classroom methods
  • How to transform from pushing learning content to creating a pull for learning content by reworking existing training material:
    • Granulation of existing e-learning courses into modules
    • Job aids; quick-start guides, roadmaps etc
    • Other methods to create a pulling from the learners
Your thesis may embrace one of the suggested questions only or combine several. You will have an assigned Volvo employee as your point of contact and direct report.
We believe that your work includes but will not be limited to following actions:
  • Benchmark against Volvo Group and relevant external organizations
  • Academic review
  • Definitions of Learners behaviors/expectations
  • Interviews with stakeholders within Volvo CE, Volvo Group and external
  • Recommendation for future work in this field

We think you are studying in the area of pedagogy, information design, behavioral psychology and/or similar and have an interest of competence development for practically oriented target groups.
