Material and Substances Composition Reporting in IMDS
The Volvo Group actively strives to eliminate harmful substances from the products. In order to track and follow up on substances of concern, material declarations are requested for new and modified parts. The reporting of material data sheet (MDS) declaring the material and substance content of a part is done in IMDS (International Material Data System).
The MDS reporting for serial product parts is important for Volvo in order to secure the compliance with the European REACH regulation as well as other product and chemical legislation worldwide.
To enable MDS reporting of Volvo parts, the supplier must register the person(s) in charge of substances reporting in the Volvo Group Supplier Portal.
How to register to the Substance Tracking application
(see Material and Substances Composition Reporting below for details)
1: Retrieve your company ID in IMDS. (See paragraph 5.1.3)
2: Register for the Volvo Group Supplier Portal through your buyer responsible for Volvo (See paragraph 5.1.1)
3: Register a substance tracking user in the Volvo Group Supplier Portal. (See instruction paragraph 5.1.2)
4: MDS reporting process (See instruction paragraph 6.1.1)
MDS reporting is required when the supplier receives a request to send an MDS
