What You Need to Know

As of March 20 at 3:00pm

  • Next week, your leaders have been directed to take Earned Time Off (ETO)
  • You may file for unemployment online or by phone, and the State of Maryland will then determine if you are eligible for benefits
    • To file a claim online, go to www.mdunemployment.com
    • To file a claim by phone, call 301-723-2000 or 1-877-293-4125 (toll free in MD only)
  • You must apply for benefits on Monday, March 23, 2020, or you may be deemed as ineligible for benefits
  • If you have an open unemployment claim in a state other than Maryland, you must file with that State
  • When you open or re-open your initial claim, be prepared to complete an application with the following information:
    • Social Security Number
    • Address
    • Phone Number
    • Name, birthdate and Social Security Numbers of all Dependents Under Age 16
    • Alien Registration number if you are not a citizen of the United States
    • Business/Corporate name, address and dates of employment for all employers for the last 18 months.  Our Corporate name and address are listed below:
      • Volvo Group Trucks/Mack Trucks, Inc.
      • 13302 Pennsylvania Avenue, Hagerstown, Maryland 21742
    • Hiring hall number if you obtain work through a union with a hiring hall
      • DO NOT GIVE THE UAW LOCAL NUMBER AS AN ANSWER TO THIS QUESTION.  UNION MEMBERSHIP WITH THE UAW IS NOT WHAT THEY ARE LOOKING FOR.  For example, Electricians and Plumbers belong to a Union with a hiring hall.  The electricians and plumbers receive their work assignments through the hiring hall, not a Company or Business
    • DD214 –Member 4 if you have military service within the last 18 months
