  • As part of its Societal Initiatives, Volvo Group has built an advanced mobile community clinic, ‘Wellness on Wheels’ in partnership with Narayana Health to provide free community screening and medical services in rural parts of Karnataka as well as in other states of the country. ‘Wellness on Wheels’ was inaugurated jointly by Mr Martin Lundstedt, President & CEO, Volvo AB along with Dr Devi Shetty, Chairman Narayana Health in presence of Mr Kamal Bali, President and MD, Volvo Group India along with Team of doctors from Narayana Health and Volvo Group Officials on 26th April in Bengaluru.

    35000+ tons of harvest in a season is a new record

    As most of you might be aware, sugarcane harvesting in the field, transporting it to the factory, crushing it, and producing the Sugar is a seasonal job. The demand for Sugar is ever-increasing. Hence, the mechanization of this activity will lead to high productivity, bring speed, and offer a reliable sugarcane harvesting solution. This story is about driving change, bringing prosperity to the customers, and fulfilling sustainable ambitions through mechanizing Indian agriculture through our Volvo Penta engines.

  • Volvo Group is committed to becoming a climate-neutral company by 2040, this includes its supply chain & global suppliers from India. As a key milestone in this journey, Volvo Group in India launched the First Green Castings that will go into building its engines. This is a significant step as India is a key source for Volvo Group’s global casting requirements. When fully adopted, the potential reduction in CO2 per year due to Green Castings would amount to 0.86 million tons for Volvo & 210 million tons for the industry. Commercial Production of these green castings will start this month.

  • Jan Gurander, Deputy CEO, Volvo Group today laid the foundation for the “Vehicle TechLab” for Volvo Group’s Research and Development operations in India. Concurrently, Jan Gurander also marked a key milestone – where Volvo Group’s R&D operations in India now becomes the largest development site outside Sweden. Earlier, in July 2021, Volvo Group launched CampX – Volvo Group’s Global Innovation Arena – the first site outside Sweden.

  • Tech Mahindra were conferred with the 2021 Volvo India Innovation Award for their innovative Energy and Fleet Management solutions for Indian market. The Award, adjudged by an eminent jury, was presented at the Volvo India Innovation Summit held in Bengaluru on 10th November 2021. Zypp Electric also conferred with the Volvo India Innovation Award under the SME category for their last mile connectivity solutions that aim to uberize same day Delivery using EV Fleet. Meanwhile, Department of Urban Land Transport, Karnataka, was honored with a special recognition for its project on improving Quality of Life (QoL).

  • With the aim to complement the efforts of Karnataka Government, Volvo Group, in partnership with Narayana Health, and under the aegis of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), launched a free vaccination drive through a specially re-purposed Volvo Bus. This bus will operate as a Mobile Vaccination Clinic and provide enhanced and easy vaccine accessibility to people across several districts in rural and semi-urban Karnataka. The mobile clinic christened “Vaccination on Wheels” was today flagged off by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka, Shri Basavaraj Bommai along with key state dignitaries in the presence of Dr. Devi Shetty, Chairman, Narayana Health, Mr. Kamal Bali, President & MD, Volvo Group in India, and Mr. Ramesh Ramadurai, Chairman, CII, Karnataka.

  • Carrying forward its legacy of being at the forefront of developing and transforming the transport industry, Volvo Group launched CampX in India. CampX by Volvo Group is a global concept for innovation and collaboration, that will further strengthen the Group’s position into the emerging future. CampX by Volvo Group was inaugurated in Bengaluru – its first site outside Sweden – by the Swedish Ambassador H.E. Klas Molin, in the presence of Volvo Group’s senior leadership in India.

  • Bengaluru, 07 June 2021: Amidst the ongoing pandemic, members of CII have once again stepped up to combat Covid, in partnership with the Karnataka state government. A 56- bed ICU facility at Sir CV Raman Nagar Hospital and 24 ICU beds at the Epidemic Hospital were inaugurated by Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri B S Yediyurappa today virtually.

  • Amidst the surge of cases due to the second wave of Coronavirus, a 100-bed COVID Care Centre (CCC), promoted and sponsored by VOLVO in partnership with Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike(BBMP), has been set up at Karnataka Institute of Endocrinology on Old Madras Road, CV Raman Nagar in Bangalore. The facility will commence operations in two phases. The phase I (comprising 40 beds) fully sponsored by Volvo Group and supported by another Swedish major IKEA India, was inaugurated today, by the Honorable Chief Minister Shri B.S. Yediyurappa, in the presence of various senior dignitaries including Mr. PC Mohan MP; Mr. Somanna, Housing Minister Karnataka; Mr. Raghu S, MLA; and Mr. Gaurav Gupta, IAS, Chief Commissioner BBMP.

Operators who completed the training received a certification from IESC which is aligned with the government’s Skill India initiative.
