TAX ANALYST – Sales & Property
Volvo Financial Services (VFS) USA has an opening for a Tax Analyst – Sales & Property. VFS USA is committed to creating a proactive, best in class team that is integrated in to our business practices as well as managing tax compliance.
The Tax Analyst – Sales & Property reports to the Tax Manager and is responsible for property tax compliance, as well as interaction taxing authorities regarding these taxes. The Tax Analyst contributes to domestic, multi-state and industry specific tax compliance and research for Volvo Financial Services and its affiliated entities in the United States. They will have effective communication skills and will actively contribute to tax projects and implementing process improvements.
Core Responsibilities:

  • SME on personal property taxes

  • Reconcile personal property tax related general ledger accounts and maintaining accurate sub ledgers

  • Timely resolution of reconciling item

  • Maintain accurate aging of sub ledger

  • Extract data from company systems and reporting for use in filing property tax renditions

  • Render annual property returns in an accurately and timely way

  • Work with jurisdiction officials to resolve post billing rendition issues

  • Research, procure, and activate electronic tax filing media to be used in property tax compliance

  • Work with customers, internal representatives and external vendors to resolve customer taxability issues, quote tax rates, and effect any changes necessary to keep VFS USA in compliance with tax laws

  • Research questions and issues raised by the business regarding sales and property tax issues

  • Act as a business consultant on matters of sales and property tax compliance issues including providing guidance as to the interpretations of various sections of the tax law

  • Respond to tax notices issued by various tax authorities

  • Assist with tax audits initiated by various tax authorities or internal control

  • Assist with tax-related projects

  • Support the sales tax function as needed

Required Competencies and Skills:

  • Proven experience working and multi-tasking in a fast paced, dynamic environment involving multiple stakeholders

  • Effective analytical skills

  • Ability to work independently to resolve issues

  • Ability to make sound business judgments through clear decision making processes

  • Solid research abilities and experience with various tax research software

  • Experience with indirect tax return preparation software required

  • Strong computer literacy with Microsoft Office

  • Proven work experiences displaying a high level of integrity, professionalism, and teamwork

  • Established ability to solve problems in an innovative way

  • Effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • BA/BS in Accounting or equivalent required

  • 3 - 5 years property tax and / or sales tax experience

  • Captive Equipment Finance or general financial services experience beneficial

  • Knowledge of tax and accounting for leasing in the United States preferred

  • 2 Years of Public Accounting experience with a regional firm preferred
