Safety Manager, Japan Sales in Safety and Security (Japanese required)

Mission/purpose of the Job:
UD Trucks Safety and Security organization has an exciting opportunity for a Safety Manager. The purpose of this position is crucial to ensure a safe, secure environment for all employees, contractors, and visitors in a way that promotes One UD. The team performs various activities within UD Trucks Safety and Security to assist in maintaining a safe environment, which includes loss prevention, emergency preparedness and response, fire safety, risk management, and other safety matters.
Scope and influence:
All related safety activities within UD Japan Sales, to include 7 Region Sales Offices and 133 Customer Support Centers.
Key responsibilities/Accountabilities:
Management:
Represent the Safety Group and Safety and Security Department to UD Trucks’ Japan Sales Offices and Customer Support Centers employees, guests and third parties.
•Provide safety leadership and direction to relevant Business Units, Departments, and Project Managers.
•Manage all Customer Support Centers safety programs and processes
•Develop and maintain compliance programs to meet and anticipate governmental and local requirements
•Build and maintain strong relationships with outside regulatory agencies and external stakeholder groups
•Manage Japan Sales Offices’ and Customer Support Centers’ safety staff. When necessary plan, request, and assist in the hiring of new personnel.
•Work within the corporate framework to foster the career growth of direct reports.
•Manage safety resources and related departmental budgets.
•Responsible for establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with UD Trucks Corporate Safety Managers, Business Unit Safety Managers, Corporate Division Managers, local representatives and subcontractors.
•Review contractor safety programs; ensure that contractor programs are compliant with corporate and local safety regulations.
•Prepare and respond successfully to all internal and external audits and investigations
•Safety programs include, but are not limited to: Confined Space Entry, Fall or Slip Protection, Ergonomics, Personal Protective Equipment, Handling of Organic Solvents or Paints, Powered Lift Truck Safety, and all associated and required training
•Coordinate and/or conduct required employee safety training
•Maintain and utilize industrial hygiene monitoring and personal protective equipment (PPE)
•Respond to emergencies and incidents involving employees
•Recommend and monitor necessary corrective actions
•Notify applicable governmental regulatory agencies and authorities as appropriate
•Reviews all contract documents related to ongoing or proposed work for safety related issues.
•Work as the internal incident manager, ensuring that safety emergencies and injuries are properly managed.
•Oversee, manage and ensure safety orientation for all new UD Trucks and client personnel as applicable.
PERSONAL PROFILE
Educational and/or training qualifications and certificates
•University Degree
•Minimum 5 years safety related experience with 3+ years’ operating at manager level, managing safety programs in manufacturing or car maintenance environment.
•Japan Safety Officer Certification or willingness to obtain.
•Health officer's license on industrial hygiene, or Dai-1-shu Japan health officer's license or willingness to obtain.
Experience and knowledge
•Automotive maintenance and repair knowledge or experiences are preferred, but not required
•Knowledge of hazardous material / dangerous goods regulations.
•Knowledge of Japanese safety regulations.
•Knowledge of behavioral-based safety principles and practices.
•Knowledge of accident prevention and safety equipment.
•Knowledge of health and safety Risk Management loss prevention methods.
•Must be able to work as part of a team, as well independently, identify issues, make decisions, assist management, and resolve problems.
•Self-starter, aggressive work ethic and ability to work with minimal supervision.
•Safety conscious.
Technical/functional/language skills
•Fluent in Japanese (required to cope with Japanese laws and regulations)
•English (Daily Conversation Level)
Typical Working Conditions
• 60%~70% Traveling to customer centers in Japan
•Work in office area and outside
•Maybe required to work outdoors during inclement weather.
