We are now looking for a Warranty Administration Specialist to complete our dedicated Warranty team. The position will be located at our Volvo Penta Region Americas (VPA) headquarters in Chesapeake, Virginia.
What is the job?
A Warranty Administration Specialist plays a key role and is accountable for the administration and timely processing of warranty claims, product registrations, campaigns and system support to Volvo Penta dealers and OEMs. This role works closely with the Volvo Penta Technical Support Department in identifying issues related to product warranty to ensure that VPA remains competitive within the marine and industrial markets. As a Warranty Administration Specialist you will be responsible for:
Reviewing and taking action on dealer/OEM warranty claims and supporting documents in a timely, efficient manner following published VPA policies and procedures. You will also investigate all questionable Dealer/OEM Warranty Claims, and periodically audit dealer warranty claims using established reporting tools.
Working with Reliability Engineering to maintain parts inspection return programs for warranted parts and accessories, as well as updating Material Request lists as necessary or when requested by the Global Warranty department.
Working with Management to develop, publish and update VPA Warranty Statements, VPA Warranty Policies and Procedures, VPA Flat Rate Manual, and other documents used to administer VPA product warranties.
Performing administrative functions including the maintenance of owner registration information, updating Product Center, and following up on failed parts returns.
Assisting dealers/OEMs with questions and solutions via functional mailbox or telephone regarding policy and procedures within authorization framework.
Do you have what it takes?
To be successful in this position you will need to have strong mechanical expertise in troubleshooting, repair, overhaul, and installations of marine power systems (gas, diesel, and outboard engines) and knowledge in retail repair practices and activities. Experience with Marine OEM and dealership experience is desirable. We are also looking for an individual with great communication stills—written and verbal—along with strong administrative skills and general business acumen. Also, it really helps if you know your way around a computer (especially Microsoft Excel).
For this position we require a technical Associate’s Degree or an equivalent of education and experience. A Bachelor’s degree is preferable.
