We are looking for a Senior Technical Specialist with a keen eye for messaging challenges to join one of our DevOpsTeams with responsibility for services like JBoss AMQ and Active MQ.
Being based in Lindholmen Science Park you will work with us in the heart of a vibrant area that lives and breathes new technology like IoT, autonomous driving, electromobility and digitalization. Here the development is massive, new buildings and companies are popping up almost daily!

The Technology function within Volvo Group Connected Solutions is accountable for the development, delivery and operation of the complete off-board connected solutions platform(s) including shared framework and common solutions/services. Within Technology, the Foundation Services section delivers and maintains platform services such as Messaging, Metrics, Observability, flexible ways of continuous delivery for our DevOps teams.
As Senior Technical Specialist in the Foundation Services area you are responsible for deploy, design, optimization, operation and monitoring of our components and services so that our customer solutions fulfill agreed SLAs.
Important elements of the position are understanding operations and development in a both a cloud based environment and in a classic on-premises environment. Equally important is the understanding of Telematics and communication over mobile networks.
We expect you to have the ability to troubleshoot in a complex operational environment involving multiple partners or suppliers, and to have the attitude “we are ready only when the customer is satisfied”.
- Operations and development of messaging components both in cloud based and on-premises environments
- Understanding of Telematics and communication over mobile networks
- Troubleshooting in a complex operational environment involving multiple internal teams but also partners or suppliers
- Part of the Messaging on-call team with responsibility to answer calls and give support 24/7 during one calendar week according to schedule
As a person you are structured, target oriented and eager to deliver on time, cost and quality. You have a positive mindset and a business-oriented attitude, and understand the challenges of application development, quality assurance, deployment, operation and maintenance.
You have to have the ability to establish and maintain good relations and also have the ability to work in a global, multi-cultural organization. You are proactive and have a strong drive to continuously challenge and improve your knowledge. You are a good communicator and take on the responsibilities. You are also proficient in both spoken and written English.
- Good UNIX or Linux (preferably RHEL) knowledge
- Managing an Application Server (preferably JBoss or Tomcat)
- Troubleshooting web applications, web servers and Linux systems
- Understanding data communication (e.g. Firewall, Loadbalancers, Telecom, Radius etc.)
- Script programming (bash, Ruby, perl)
- Good understanding of messaging system like JBoss AMQ, WMQ
- Cloud environment
- Logging (Splunk, Elk)
- Monitoring application (Nagios)
- Big Data
- Service Discovery (ZooKeeper)
- Configuration Management (Puppet)
- Micro service Architecture
- NoSQL Database (MongoDB, PostGresSQL)
