WELCOME TO THE TEAM!
The Intelligent Machine Platforms department is a division of Automation and Connected Solutions at Volvo CE. We design the solutions of the future including teleoperated and autonomous machines for different construction equipment applications and segments. Our mission is to create safe automation solutions helping our customers reach sustainability and productivity goals. We also create apps on our own Android tablet called Co-Pilot in the purpose of coaching and assisting our machine operators to be more efficient and environmentally friendly. We are driven by the vision that our innovations will create a better tomorrow for our future generations.
This is a unique opportunity to join a fantastic team with a startup mentality working with truly disruptive technology while at the same time being a part of the world-renowned Volvo Group.
We are currently looking to expand our automation team and we are eager to get to know an enthusiastic and devoted navigation engineer. You will play a key role in making our autonomous machine prototypes customer ready by supporting in designing, specifying and installing the navigation system in our autonomous machines. The navigation system combines multiple sensors such as GNSS and odometry data and the work will consist both of implementing the system as well as of specifying these kinds of systems towards potential suppliers.
The role also includes participating in continuous improvement of our ways of working and you will be encouraged to dream big, dare to fail, innovate and always invest time in personal development.
In our department we have an agile setup and we really support each other, so getting into our work is easy. You will join a Scrum team and collaborate with other teams on a daily basis, making sure to deliver a great product. The colleagues you will get are fantastic and always ready for new technical adventures. For instance, together with other colleagues at Volvo CE, the team just proved that we can lower carbon dioxide emissions by 98% in the Electric Site project!
WHO ARE YOU?
Apart from being curious and enthusiastic we hope you also have a deep knowledge in navigation and the corresponding systems and sensors. You might even have a PhD on the subject. You enjoy collaborating with suppliers to specify great components and you are equally eager to get hands-on experience with our prototypes. You have a background in C++ and Java or related coding languages and you are intrigued by the opportunity of having your code guide our amazing autonomous machines!
You are an open and creative person with a can-do attitude. You are fluent in English, both written and spoken, and you either speak Swedish or are eager to learn a new language. In any case, you love being part of a dynamic, diverse and fun team so you will fit right in!
