Strategic Communications Specialist

This position is responsible for VFS-related strategic communication plans and activities that build customer and employee awareness and understanding of the value of VFS. It will also develop and drive digital communication initiatives that elevate VFS’ digital footprint in the market place. The position holds VFS Region Americas and Global VFS Headquarters communication responsibilities. This position within VFS’s Global Headquarters reports to the SVP, Communication and will be located in Greensboro, NC.

  • Participates in developing and executing the VFS global communication plan
  • Defines, executes and follows up on the annual communication plan for VFS Region Americas
  • Leads VFS internal and external campaign activities (e.g. Employer of Choice, Provider of Choice, etc.)
  • Supports the VFS Americas President with a strategic perspective on executive communications and activities
  • Collaborates with VFS global, regional, and market colleagues across functions to develop news, stories, channels, and other activities that inform colleagues about VFS and Group key messages and initiatives
  • Counsels management in communication strategy and communicative leadership
  • Oversees the Americas Violin news pipeline and site presence in accordance with Violin guidelines
  • Supports execution of employee events such as town halls and off-site EMT meetings. Assists Group North American campus colleagues on shared activities
  • Supports the VFS Global Leadership Summit
  • Leads charitable contributions activities, including VFS Committee meetings, activity selections, Volvo Group reporting, VFS budget management and alignment of VFS activities with Volvo Group colleagues. Interfaces with local charitable organizations
  • Supports the global VFS digital strategy and drives key initiatives (e.g. IDW, Campaigns, Content Strategy)
  • Plans and executes VFS Americas online presence and strategy
  • Manages VFS’ digital communication analytics
  • Represents VFS in Volvo Group and product company communication related forums
  • Creates communication material such as web site content, films, presentations and other items that represent VFS
  • Maintains VFS and Group communication and brand standards. Ensures VFS communications comply with VFS and Volvo Group guidelines
  • Bachelor’s degree in strategic communications or marketing required
  • Minimum 3 experience or project-related experience in a marketing related field
  • Proven social media and digital marketing campaign results
  • Financial services related industry experience preferred
  • Highly motivated, well-organized, detail-oriented, creative, and self-starter
  • Excellent people skills and strong capacity in building networks
  • Experience with interacting at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent proficiency with working with others remotely (virtually)
  • Strong personal credibility, integrity and creativity
  • Advanced analytical and strategic insight skills
  • Superior written and oral communication skills
  • Experience with strategic internal communication plan development
  • Experience with corporate brand identity management
  • Strong understanding of maximizing communication channel usage
  • Event management/organizational skills
  • Ability to effectively prioritize, organize and perform multiple tasks with varying deadlines
  • Strong multi-cultural awareness and hands-on experience
  • Computer proficiency – PC hardware/software, Windows 10, and Adobe
  • Ability to travel
