Australian Mustang Cruisers continues to increase its sales of ultra-modern sports cruisers. In a short time, Volvo Penta has become the main supplier of engines to this fast-growing boat builder.

During the past 12 months, the number of Volvo Penta engines delivered to Mustang Cruisers production facility on the Gold Coast, Australia, has risen sharply. Sales have included gasoline and diesel engines between 270 and 480 hp for single and twin installations.

Volvo Penta in 90% of the boats
Volvo Penta’s first deliveries to Mustang Cruisers were made four years ago, after the boat builder decided to test and evaluate Volvo Penta’s gasoline engines.

“Currently, Volvo Penta accounts for nine of the ten engines that Mustang Cruisers installs in its boats,” says Graeme Avers, President of Eastern Engine Pty Ltd., Volvo Penta’s importer in Australia.

Mustang Cruisers produces sports cruisers in the 28 to 52 foot classes (from slightly less than 8 meters to 16 meters). The company has grown rapidly in recent years and is currently Australia’s largest Australian owned boat builder.

Prize-winning boats
In addition to its sales successes, Mustang Cruisers has also become renowned for its product development and design.  An example is the 4200 Sports Top model that was a winner at the Australia Design Awards. Another is the 3800 Sports Cruiser model which was named the “Australian Boat of the Year,” “Australian Cruiser of the year” and the “Australian Family Boat of the Year” by the Australian Marine Industry Federation, the industry organization.

Large dealer network
Volvo Penta has the marine world’s most global dealer network, with more than 5,000 dealers worldwide. About 100 of these are in Australia to provide service for the fast-growing population of Volvo Penta engines and drive systems.
