Cast off for the Baltic trip

This summer Volvo Penta takes one of its test boats around five countries in the Baltic to show the benefits of the ingenious IPS high-performance pod system with forward facing propellers. Follow the trip on the web via the Baltic trip blog.

The PTA80 vessel chosen for this trip is one of Volvo Penta’s regular test boats, used at the marine test center outside Gothenburg. The PTA80 is 22 meters long and powered by twin IPS1050 at 800 hp each. With a displacement of 33 tons, she has a top speed of 30 knots.

Keeping pace with the times, the Baltic trip will be well documented in real time. Apart from the usual comments and photos, visitors will also see hard facts: the fuel economy achieved, the distance covered, average speed and more on the Baltic trip blog >>.
