Volvo Penta Offers Extended Coverage for Diesel Engines

New Optional Plan Gives Boat Owners Peace of Mind, Saves Money on Repair, and Protects Investment.

(CHESAPEAKE, Va.) – Volvo Penta of the Americas today announced a new Extended Coverage program for its leisure marine diesel engines and transmissions starting Oct. 1, 2013. The new Extended Coverage program supplements the expanded and strengthened limited warranty for diesel engines, which now includes three extra years of major component coverage for diesel engines and IPS drives.

Boaters now have the option of purchasing Extended Coverage for their Volvo Penta engines and transmissions. The plan provides boaters with full engine and transmission protection, covering repair or replacement of defective parts after expiration of the Volvo Penta limited warranty for up to five years of factory protection.

Peace of Mind

“Extended Coverage provides peace of mind to boaters who want to ensure that their favorite pastime is protected from unexpected costs,” said Ron Huibers, president, Volvo Penta of the Americas. “By extending the protection, the owner will be able to stay ahead of possible future repair costs.”

“The basic objective – and the primary user benefits – of the Extended Coverage is predictability and control,” said Huibers. “Most leisure boaters wish to keep full control of all costs connected with their boating life and a good warranty means peace of mind. As an addition to the newly improved Volvo Penta International Limited Warranty, the Extended Coverage offer is a welcome ‘piece of the puzzle’ for a positive boating experience.”

Clear Conditions

A boat owner may purchase Extended Coverage from an authorized Volvo Penta dealer at the time of engine purchase, boat delivery or up to three months from the date of commissioning and delivery. Throughout the limited warranty and Extended Coverage periods, the owner must follow the Volvo Penta recommended maintenance schedule.

Backed and Administered by Volvo Penta

No one knows Volvo Penta engines and systems like Volvo Penta. That is why Extended Coverage is fully backed and administered by Volvo Penta. Trained and experienced Volvo Penta employees will answer calls, provide qualified technical answers, and expedite Genuine Volvo Penta parts if a covered repair is necessary during the Limited Warranty or Extended Coverage periods – all at no cost to the boater. No deductibles apply during the coverage period, and time remaining in Extended Coverage is fully transferrable to a subsequent owner.

The Volvo Penta Limited Warranty and Extended Coverage programs depend on dedicated, local Volvo Penta servicing dealers for all service and support. There are qualified Volvo Penta service dealers in more than 130 countries.
