Since 2007, Volvo CE has invested more than $130 million to transform the Shippensburg campus and employs more than 1,000 people from some 20 countries—making the company one of Franklin County’s largest and most diverse manufacturing employers.

David S. Keller, chairman of the Franklin County Board of Commissioners, presented the award to Sean Glennon, vice president and general manager of Shippensburg Operations, Volvo CE, during the FCADC appreciation dinner held on Sept. 5.

“We are honored to receive the award because it recognizes Volvo’s strong desire to be a leader in the community. Our goal is to develop our employees and positively impact our economic climate for future generations,” Glennon said. “We look forward to being a business that helps Franklin County continue to develop, grow and prosper.”

In March Volvo CE officially opened the 36,000-square-foot headquarters building in Shippensburg after consolidating operations from Asheville, N.C.

The Shippensburg facility manufactures more than 50 models of construction equipment, including motor graders, wheel loaders, soil and asphalt compactors, pavers, screeds and milling machines. The ongoing capital investments and expansion of local production lines show Volvo CE’s commitment to the local region and the North American market.
