On Volvo’s sponsorship to the ETSC, Stefan Lorentzson said that this was a natural link since “the safety concept has been in the company since it was founded in 1927. Over the years it has evolved to encompass safety in a broader context. The Volvo Group has a long tradition to strive for safety and contribute to society. Together with the ETSC, we have an opportunity to share our views and we can work towards better solutions for improved transport efficiency and safety. Today our holistic view remains: “A safe product in a safe environment provides the best overall solution”.
Jörg Beckmann, the Executive Director of ETSC is delighted with this new partnership. He views Volvo as an important company in ETSC’s growing sponsorship consortium. “The support from Volvo and other manufactures will help to implement best practice in road safety policies across Europe. As ETSC understands road safety as a shared responsibility, it is also an illustration of how industry can contribute to the work of the European Transport Safety Council – an example for more companies to follow”, says Jörg Beckmann.
