During the past 12 months, order bookings for the Group’s truck operations were 12% higher compared with the preceding year. Orders were down 5% in Europe, while the order bookings in North America increased 31%.
Deliveries from Mack through May totaled 14,446 units, up 55% from the same period a year ago. Although order intake has gone down somewhat, compared with the extreme levels from earlier this year, buying interest remains strong among customers in Mack's core segments of construction, refuse and economic haul.
Deliveries through May totaled 31,675 trucks, a rise of 10% compared with the year-earlier period. Deliveries in France increased 8%.
Deliveries in the rest of the world outside Europe 25 increased 40%, totaling 5 741 units. The main increase comes from the Renault Kerax (+33%).
Volvo Trucks’ deliveries during the period January-May amounted to 44,370 vehicles, an increase of 23% compared with the year-earlier period. Deliveries in Europe rose by 4% to 18,353 trucks (17,606 last year). The upward trend continues in both the UK and France, which saw increases of 31% and 49%, respectively.
During this period, Volvo Trucks delivered 12,892 vehicles to the North American market, an increase of 53% compared to last year.
Compared with the corresponding period last year, figures for deliveries to Asia, including the Middle East were up by 47%, and in South America by 13%.
