IPS Purchasing is a global organization within GTP representing a yearly purchased spend of 35 BSEK; the team is responsible for Investments, IT, Professional Service & Travel, Product & Operation Services. Products and Operation Services includes operating fluids, packaging, chemicals, industrial supplies, facility services integrators, waste management, cleaning & reception, security & fire, restaurant & vending, building material, signage, electricity, & utilities (gas, heating, water and industrial gas).
South America Purchasing is an organization within GTP supporting VTLA on the purchasing related activities both on Automotive and indirect purchasing.
As IPS South America Purchasing Manager, you are responsible for the project / operational activities within your area responsibility pertaining to your region there by:

  • implementing “best practices” and global ways of working, securing deliverables from suppliers to fulfill the project gates,
  • driving improvements while managing day to day business and performance of your team from QDCF-TSR stand point.

You will lead and manage commodity and project buyers in your area of scope for Brazil, Chile, Argentina & Peru, manage supplier relationships, secure excellent cross functional collaboration with all stakeholders, lead/contribute to supplier negotiations and contribute to global segment strategies.

Main Responsibilities

  • Be a member of the GTP SA management team and in an active way contribute to the development of the department

  • Contribute on managing the overall supplier relationship by driving business reviews and act as key negotiation player in escalation process

  • Secure delivery of overall QDCF-TSR targets and associated KPI fulfillment

  • Drive department activities towards Strategy Deployment wanted position

  • Responsible for department purchasing business plan

  • Secure needed communication with cross functional teams

  • Secures sustainable continuous improvements throughout his/her area and cross functional teams

  • Secure supplier involvement in project activities

  • Get approval in relevant ”governance decision body” (Strategy and Sourcing Committee & Board)

  • Sign agreements with suppliers according to Group authorization directives

  • Manage purchasing QDCF- TSR deliverables according to the contract

  • Manage the development of your teams

  • Secure and Manage resources within his/her area

  • Responsible for budget and operating expenses

  • Ensure collaboration with the other managers within the respective segment(s)

  • Work in accordance with the Volvo processes, the Code of Conduct and the Volvo Values

  • Manage the interactions with stakeholders (VGRE, GTO, VCE, Penta, VBC, etc.) in developing joint roadmaps and planning

Competence & Experience

  • University degree in Engineering/technology and/or Business Administration

  • Successful experience within Purchasing in an international environment; previous experience in leadership role is a plus

  • Strong leadership skills and ability to prioritize

  • Team player

  • Strong negotiator

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Solid ability to develop and inspire/motivate others is a must.

  • Ability to effectively lead and communicate from a distance

  • Knowledgeable in current and future business trends, technology and markets

  • Able to execute in a global organization

  • Face problems and act quickly and directly. Provide direct & actionable feedback

  • Able to handle uncertainty and the unexpected. Holds things together during tough times

  • Take good decisions in line with internal stakeholders, with risks and opportunities and alternative solutions in mind

  • Experience within the area of industrial & facilities is a plus.

  • Represent his/her Purchasing area in cross-functional decision bodies

  • Validates sourcing cases to be presented to the sourcing decision body

This position will require travels between work sites within the area of responsibility
