Life experience for Hope School children

Driving prosperity means caring for others and for society in many ways. In China, we support Hope Schools to bring education to 400 students in rural areas. We took eight of them to Guangzhou and the Volvo Ocean Race. Here is their experience.
Life experience for Hope School children

Last February, a group of eight primary school students and their teachers from two Volvo Hope Schools in Jiangxi Province and Hubei Province, were invited to a memorable trip to Guangzhou, one of China's three largest cities. For most of them it was their first time leaving their home village.

The 3days’ trip included visits to cultural and technical landmarks of the city as well as an exploration of the Volvo Ocean Race Village in Guangzhou. They also joined a drawing contest, where they could imagine the sustainable transport of the future.

The children were accompanied by 7 employees, volunteering from Group IT, China JV and Purchasing of Volvo Group China and with the children. One of them, Tom Liu, recalls: “I know how important experiences like these are for kids - giving them special care and attention. Somewhere in the future, I will remember with fondness their excited faces. They brought happiness to my life and this has changed me.”
