Volvo Penta receives order for 220 engines from Saudi Arabia

Volvo Penta has received an order for an additional 220 industrial engines from Saudi Arabia.
The order strengthens Volvo Penta’s position on the Saudi Arabian market for industrial engines.

Deliveries in year 2000 total about 1,500 engines, compared with about 900 in the preceding year. Volvo Penta’s total sales value in Saudi Arabia in the first nine months of this year amounted to SEK 140 million.

Saudi Arabia is one of Volvo Penta’s single largest markets for industrial engines. Through its importer, Al Khorayef, Volvo Penta has delivered more than 45,000 heavy diesel engines to Saudi Arabia during the past three decades.

Volvo Penta’s engines are used in Saudi Arabia mainly for such industrial applications as irrigation and power supply. Sales are predominantly 12- and 16-liter engines produced at the Volvo engine plant in Skövde, Sweden.
