New speed record with Volvo Penta

Another speed record at sea has been set with Volvo Penta’s new diesel engines – this time from south to north along the coast of Sweden.

Volvo Penta’s new D6-350 diesel engine with DPR drive is not only cleaner, quieter and more powerful than any other engine in its class – it is also the fastest.

The engine delivers amazing performance and boats equipped with the D6-350 DPR are setting new speed records at sea worldwide.

The most recent record was set in Sweden, the home of Volvo Penta. Team Dahl Naval in the RIB boat "Vilda" established a new record on the run between the cities of Ystad in the south to Haparanda in the north.

The boat covered the 712 nautical miles in 15 hours and 26 minutes – almost 3 hours faster than the old record set in 1999.

The record-setting boat, Vilda, a custom-built 36-foot RIB boat, is equipped with twin D6-350s and reaches top speeds of more than 55 knots.
