Volvo IT in partnership with GE Healthcare

Volvo IT is going to store X-rays with the associated patient information from hospitals in the Västra Götaland Region. This assignment has been commissioned by the medical devices company GE Healthcare, which is building a new, central system for hospitals.

The staff at the hospitals log onto the system to access X-rays including patient information from a joint database. The central system and database are run in computers that are monitored and protected in Volvo IT’s underground computer halls. Volvo IT is responsible for ensuring that hospitals have access to the system and database around the clock.

“Volvo IT has the solutions to guarantee the safe handling of large quantities of data which have to be stored centrally. This will help us to deliver a secure solution for the region’s X-rays,” says Thomas Anderzon, sales manager at GE Healthcare in the Nordic Region.

“We need modern, cost-effective solutions in order to be a leading IT region in Europe. So we are very pleased that the IT skills and resources in the Volvo Group are being utilised,” says Gösta Malmer, IT director at the Västra Götaland Region.
