“The introduction of the CO2 free trucks this morning was well-received by the high level EU audience. Volvo Group made an important step forward in raising the awareness of the EU authorities regarding the technical progress achieved.
We made clear that it is important for the EU public authorities to continue to support the industry in research for innovative technology that will help to reduce the impact of transport on the environment”, said Frédérique Biston, Head of Volvo Group Representation, EU.
A total of seven vehicles running on seven different renewable fuels were parked in front of the spectator stand. The message to the specially invited guests was clear: the Volvo Group has both the technical expertise and the resources to develop carbon dioxide-free vehicles. Now it is up to the politicians and relevant public authorities to work with the vehicle industry and society to promote increased research and development of renewable fuels and trial facilities so as to move closer to carbon dioxide-free transportation. In the next stage, it will also be necessary for the fuel industry to make necessary investments in order to be able to produce and distribute fuels made from biomass.
