Volvo VN again the winning choice in national truck driving championships

Once again, the Volvo VN was the truck of choice for professional drivers at the 2008 National Truck Driving Championships. The Volvo VN was driven to victory in five of the seven truck classes at the NTDC. NTDC is an annual competition in which state-level driving champions compete for national titles. The championships, sponsored by American Trucking Associations, were held August 19-23 in Houston.
“The word is out that Volvo is the truck to use if you want to win,” said Scott Kress, Volvo senior vice president – sales & marketing.  “The best drivers know the visibility, maneuverability and ease of operation that makes the Volvo VN so productive and comfortable in day-to-day operations also gives them the competitive edge.  Even drivers who use other brands in their fleets drive Volvo VNs in the NTDC.  Volvo drives success for customers – and delivers trophies.”

NTDC competitors choose which brand of truck they drive in the competition.  Of the seven categories where Volvo was a choice, five were won by drivers in Volvo VNs:
• Three axle class
• Four axle class
• Five axle class
• Tank truck class
• Twin trailer class

In fact, drivers in Volvo VNs swept the twin trailer class with the top three places, scored a second place finish in the flatbed class, and took two of the top three places in the three-, four- and five-axle classes.
