The Volvo Group offers to help the UN in Haiti

Hundreds of thousands of people have lost their lives, and millions have lost their homes, friends and family as a result of the earthquake in Haiti. The Volvo Group is now offering to help UN rescue and recovery efforts.

In a letter to the General Secretary of the UN (United Nations), the Volvo Group is offering the Group’s support to the UN led emergency and rescue operations in Haiti, by providing products such as heavy trucks, construction equipment, buses, engines for electrical power generation, marine engines and industrial engines for stationary and off-road applications through the Group’s various companies.

The Volvo Group wants to discuss with the UN how the Group's wide product range best can serve as a base for assistance.

There are also several private fund-raising campaigns locally among the Volvo Group companies to help the victims of the disaster.
