Volvo Penta of the Americas announced today the expansion of the Volvo Penta IPS propulsion system into the repower market.

(CHESAPEAKE, VA)  January 27, 2010— Volvo Penta of the Americas announced today the expansion of the Volvo Penta IPS propulsion system into the repower market.

After successfully shipping over 10,000 units since its 2005 inception and extensive experience with 122 builders and more than 230 boat models worldwide, Volvo Penta of the Americas knows the time is right to expand into the repower market.   Several re-power projects are already underway.

“Many customers have expressed interest in upgrading their boats to new technology platforms. By upgrading to IPS customers can experience all the benefits of easy joystick docking, quiet cruising, and unparalleled fuel savings all in an exhaust free environment,” notes Kent Lundgren, Vice President New Business Development.

The broad IPS horsepower range from IPS350 through IPS 1200 now opens the door to evaluate repower project in pleasure and commercial boats ranging from 31’ to 100’ feet. Using the same careful methodology which has led to the successful application of IPS in hundreds of applications Volvo Penta works very closely with dealers, Power Centers and end customers to ensure successful application.
