Due to the flooding, Volvo Group Australia and plant management at the Wacol plant on the outskirts of Brisbane have held extensive meetings to execute plans to deal with the consequences of the situation in the best interests of all employees, company property, customers and suppliers.
All Brisbane sites will be closed today and tomorrow, Thursday 13 January. Levels in the Brisbane River is expected to peak at 4 am (local time) tomorrow and there is now a risk of flooding in the Wacol plant. The management team will assess site closures further when flooding recedes later tomorrow.
Managers are endeavouring to reach all staff to advise those who may not be in a position to receive electronic communication. A hotline number has been established to provide all staff with access to the latest information relevant to the flooding situation and the planned re-opening of the various Brisbane worksites in due course.
