The Inboard Performance System (IPS) by Volvo Penta is the world´s first pod system for leisure boats. With more than 15,000 units delivered since the introduction in 2005, the IPS system is the undisputed world market leader in the pod segment.

The IPS system brings many benefits to the boating world, not least in terms of environmental features. Compared to shaft installations, boats powered with the IPS system can reduce fuel consumption with up to 30 percent.

This is something that has now been recognized by Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM). Since 2010, UIM annually award engine manufacturers and boat builders in order to inspire and recognize excellence in innovation and development of environmentally-friendly technologies.

Volvo Penta receives an UMI award for Best Innovation for the unique environmental features of IPS system.

The award will be given at the annual UIM Awards Giving Gala which will take place on Saturday, February 23, 2013.
