“We define innovation as extending beyond product development,” noted the magazine in its call for nominees. “We look to companies that are transforming our industry through the use of new manufacturing processes, marketing approaches, technologies, products, workforce and other initiatives. We want to recognize companies shaping the future of the marine marketplace.”
Volvo Penta’s hybrid IPS engine
Among Vovlo Penta’s innovations the magazine noted were “Easy Docking” and a hybrid IPS engine planned for launch by 2021 – both introduced in June 2018 – and a Water Sport Control system for wakesurfing, which will be fitted on its Forward Drive system, introduced in October.
