“To create the next horizon of growth we are constantly collaborating with our partners across innovation ecosystems. As part of our open innovation practice the Hack Sprint format enables us to collaborate with speed and generate new options to real world problems in a fun and engaging way,” says Tommy Hansson Strand Volvo Group Connected Solutions Innovation Lab.

Two thirds of the world will live in urban areas by 2050, making cities denser because street capacity will not grow. The last mile delivery challenge represents 50% of logistics costs with high frequency deliveries in low volumes generate high number of trips with high pollution and low fuel efficiency – providing a real world challenge problem worth solving!

“For this Hyper Island x Hack Sprint we asked Business Developer students to generate new Platform Business Models and B2B services to solve the last mile delivery challenge in urban logistics. I continue to be amazed at what the students are able to create in only 72 hours!” says Philip Wockatz, Volvo Group Connected Solutions Innovation Lab.
